Ciyeza Cleaning — Cape Town
Pressure washing in Cape Town — driveways, patios, and what it actually costs
Cape Town's wet winters and the southeaster leave a particular kind of grime on exterior surfaces. Driveways go green with algae, paving gets a slippery film of moss, walls pick up dirt along the lower courses. A garden hose doesn't shift it. Pressure washing does — and on the right surfaces, the difference after a clean is immediate.
It's also one of the more satisfying cleaning jobs to watch. A driveway that's been grey-green for two years comes up looking close to new.
What we pressure wash
Driveways and parking areas
Concrete, brick paving, cobblestone, and tar. Algae, oil stains, tyre marks, and general grime removed.
Patios and entertainment areas
Tiles, exposed aggregate, and paving slabs. Removes mould, algae, and staining. Makes outdoor surfaces safe and presentable again.
Exterior walls
Painted or plastered walls — particularly along the lower sections where splash and algae build up. Lower pressure is used to avoid damage.
Roof tiles
Clay and concrete roof tiles. Removes moss, algae, and lichen. Usually done before winter to prevent water retention under growth.
Pool surrounds and pathways
Tiles and paving around pools collect algae and become slippery. Cleaned and safe again after pressure washing.

When to book in Cape Town
Late summer — February and March — is a good time to pressure wash driveways and patios before they go into winter dirty. Algae that builds up over winter is harder to shift and can cause permanent staining on lighter paving. Getting exterior surfaces clean before the rain season also means water runs off properly rather than sitting on moss or debris.
Roof tiles are typically done in autumn — after the summer dust and before winter rain. Moss and lichen on roof tiles retain moisture, which shortens the life of the tiles if left unchecked.
