Ciyeza Cleaning — Cape Town
How much does a deep clean actually cost in Cape Town?
It's the question everyone Googles before booking. And most cleaning companies answer it with something like "prices vary depending on your needs" — which tells you nothing.
So here's an honest answer from a company that does this every day in Cape Town. What a deep clean costs, what drives the price up, and what you actually get for your money.
First — what is a deep clean, exactly?
A regular clean keeps things tidy. You wipe surfaces, mop the floor, clean the bathroom. It's maintenance.
A deep clean goes into the areas that almost never get touched in a regular clean:
- Inside the oven, microwave, and fridge
- Tile grout in the kitchen and bathrooms
- Behind and underneath furniture
- Skirtings, door frames, and light switches
- Inside cupboards and wardrobes
- Shower heads, taps, drains, and seals
It takes longer and costs more than a regular clean — but most people only need it two or three times a year, or when moving in or out of a property.
What does it cost in Cape Town?
| Property size | Typical price |
|---|---|
| Small flat (1–2 bed) | R600 – R900 |
| Medium house (3 bed) | R900 – R1 400 |
| Large house (4+ bed) | R1 400 – R2 000+ |
| Move-out / neglected property | Quote on inspection |
These are starting points. The real price depends on the condition of the property when we arrive.
What makes the price go up?
The single biggest factor is how long it's been since the property was last properly cleaned. A flat that gets a regular clean every two weeks and needs a deep clean once a year is a very different job to a rental that's been sitting for months or a kitchen with grease baked onto every surface.
Other things that push the price up:
- Lots of clutter — things need to be moved to clean properly underneath
- Extra add-ons like carpet cleaning, window cleaning, or an oven that's never been cleaned
- A bigger property than was described when booking
- Post-construction dust — it gets into everything and takes much longer to remove
How long does it take?
A small flat in reasonable condition takes about 3 to 4 hours. A medium family home is usually a full day. A large house or a badly neglected property can go longer.
We tell you upfront what to expect before we start. If something comes up that's going to take significantly longer than expected, we call you first — we don't just carry on and add it to the bill.
Do I need to be home?
No. A lot of our clients hand over a key or give us access through an estate manager and check in when we're done. It works fine as long as we have a way in and out and you're reachable by phone in case we have a question about something.
When does a deep clean make sense?
Most people book a deep clean in these situations:
- Moving into a new property and you don't know how it was left
- Moving out and you need to leave the place in good condition
- The property hasn't had a proper clean in a long time
- Before or after a big event at home
- Spring cleaning — once or twice a year just to reset
